Buccaneer K Connor Barth nailed a 50-yard field goal, with just under five minutes remaining in the first quarter, to put the Buccaneers up 3-0.
The Bucs’ second drive of the game started at the 30-yard line. On three consecutive plays, QB Josh Freeman hit WR Vincent Jackson, WR Arrelious Benn and connected deep with WR Mike Williams, setting them up in Redskins’ territory at the 39-yard line. A long Doug Martin run was negated by a holding penalty, setting up a first-and-20.
The Bucs’ gained back 17 of those yards, but was forced to take the long field goal. Barth’s kick sailed through the uprights for the seventh time this season.
The Washington Redskins will start their next drive at the 25-yard line.
