Tampa Bay RB Doug Martin and TE Dallas Clark had their numbers called plenty in the Buccaneer drive. Doug Martin broke 100 yards from scrimmage on the drive, the seventh game in a row he has reached the triple digits. However, the drive came up with nothing as Doug Martin lost a fumble just as he seemed to be crossing the goal line.
The Buccaneers finally got something going on offense in the second half, taking the drive from their own 19-yard line all the way to the one.
The Buccaneers converted on three third downs on the drive. Freeman got the first on a 13-yard run. The next play was a Martin run for 10 yards. On the next set of downs, Freeman hit Dallas Clark for the first.
Martin continued to eat up big chunks of yardage and converted the third third-down of the game. Finally, at the two-yard line, the Bucs faced a fourth down attempt and opted to go for it. The handoff went to Martin again who easily crossed the first down marker, and appeared to near the end zone before the ball popped out.
It as called a turnover and touchback on the field and after review the call stood. It is Martin’s first fumble of his career and a big blow to the Buccaneer offense that was just starting to click. The Panthers take over at their 20.
