Chargers Drive 80 Yards Again for Antonio Gates TD

The San Diego Chargers have opted to go to the air early against the Buccaneers’ number-one ranked run defense. Philip Rivers connected on all four of his passes on the scoring drive. Rivers is already up to 148 yards passing on the day.

The first big play of the drive came on a 22-yard reception by WR Malcom Floyd. The Buccaneers forced a third down on the next set, but a holding call on S Ronde Barber gave the Chargers a first down. Then Rivers hit TE Antonio Gates for the first time of the day for 33 yards over the middle and again on the 16-yard touchdown pass.

The Buccaneers will take over the ball once again in the first quarter with 4:19 remaining and look to once again even the score. After muffing the opening kickoff, KR LeQuan Lewis was able to return it 11 yards out to the nine yard line where the offense will take over.
