Newton Hits Brandon LaFell for a Panther Touchdown

The Carolina Panthers have opened up an 11-point lead over the Buccaneers on a 29-yard strike from QB Cam Newton to WR Brandon LaFell.

The drive started at the 20-yard line after the goal line fumble from Doug Martin. The Panthers took advantage of the momentum with a quick third-down conversion on a 20-yard pass from Newton to LaFell. On the next third-down play, it was Steve Smith who hauled in the reception for 17 yards and conversion.

The next play, from the 29-yard line ended in a touchdown as Newton dropped back and hit Brandon LaFell. LaFell turned and beat a couple Buccaneer defenders to the goal line, making it 21-10 Carolina.

Brandon LaFell had 58 yards on the drive, bringing him to 96 on the day with a score.

The Buccaneers will take over with six minutes remaining in the game.
