Panther Defense Jump-Starts Carolina Scoring

The Buccaneers were getting things started with a nice D.J. Ware catch-and-run good for 15 yards.

On a third-and-eight from the Carolina 30, QB Josh Freeman dropped back to pass and got pressure up the middle. Falling backwards he threw the ball toward TE Dallas Clark when S Captain Munnerlyn picked it off.

Making up for his punt return fumble that resulted in a Buccaneer touchdown, Munnerlyn struck with his own, returning the pick 74 yards for the touchdown. The interception ends Josh Freemans 161 consecutive passes without an interception.

During the return, Buccaneer C Ted Larsen was called for Unnecessary Roughness that was enforced on the kickoff. The ball sailed out of the end zone and the Bucs will start things off from their 20-yard line.

On the drive, both Carolina DEs Greg Hardy and Charles Johnson were injured. Greg Hardy as returned to the game, the return of Johnson is questionable.
