Panthers Miss Field Goal, Bucs Get Ball Back

The Carolina Panthers drove down the field again, but could not capitalize as K Justin Medlock misses on a 40-yard attempt. The Panthers are still up 14-10.

QB Cam Newton got a lot of the work done with his legs on the drive. On a second down he scrambled for up the middle for 10 yards. Then, on a third-and-13, Newton converted himself taking the run up the middle for 16 yards.

In Buccaneer territory, Newton hit TE Greg Olsen deep on a 32-yard gain. From there, the Bucs defense was able to hold. A five-yard RB DeAngelo Williams run led into a four yard loss as Michael Bennett wrapped up Cam Newton behind the line of scrimmage.

On the ensuing third down play, Newton dropped back and before being hit by DT Daniel Te’o-Nesheim hit WR Steve Smith in the end zone for an apparent touchdown that was called back on Offensive Pass Interference. The next pass fell incomplete and led to the missed kick.

The Buccaneers will take over on their 30-yard line. The first play of that drive was good for a yard and led into the two-minute warning.
