Jamon Meredith has filled in admirably at right guard, former home of Pro Bowler Davin Joseph, since moving inside from his reserve tackle position in Week Six.  Now the Buccaneers may need somebody to fill in for Meredith in Week 11.

Meredith debuted on Tampa Bay’s injury report on Wednesday, and on Thursday Head Coach Greg Schiano explained that the fourth-year lineman had been hurt during the last period of Wednesday’s workout when a teammate fell onto his leg.  Meredith sustained an ankle injury and was held out of practice on Thursday.

“I’m not sure if he’s going to be able to play Sunday or not,” said Schiano. They’re really aggressively treating him and we’ll see.  We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Schiano didn’t pinpoint who would step into Meredith’s spot if he is unable to go, but the team is obviously still holding out hope that he will recover in time to make his sixth straight start.

“[There are] a lot of different guys that we’re rolling through there,” said Schiano.  “We’ll probably make a decision closer to game time. I hope its Jamon but if not then the next guy who we think gives us the best chance to win will get lined up there and we’ll move forward.”

CB Eric Wright was excused from practice for a personal reason, but otherwise the Buccaneers had full participation.  Both DE Michael Bennett and G Jeremy Zuttah returned to action after getting an extra day off on Wednesday.

The Panthers’ injury report looked a lot rosier on Thursday, likely because many of their inactive players on Wednesday were just getting some precautionary rest.  LB Thomas Davis, DT Dwan Edwards, T Jordan Gross, C Geoff Hangartner and WR Steve Smith all went from no participation on Wednesday to full participation on Thursday.
