Both the Buccaneers and the Panthers may be looking to establish the run early in Sunday’s game in Charlotte, but first they’ll have to establish exactly who will be providing the blocking up front.

The two teams released their first official injury reports of the week on Wednesday, and the most notable aspect of each team’s list is how prominently featured the starting offensive line is.

For the Buccaneers, both of their starting guards – Jamon Meredith and Jeremy Zuttah – are on the list, and of course that pair is already filling in at those spots for original starters Davin Joseph and Carl Nicks. Zuttah was held out of practice on Wednesday due to a shoulder ailment, which Head Coach Greg Schiano says is the product of playing two extremely physical games back-to-back.  Meredith started the practice but apparently suffered an ankle injury during the workout.

Carolina has three of their current starting five linemen on the list: left tackle Jordan Gross, left guard Amini Silatolu and center Geoff Hangartner.  Gross is listed as “not injury related,” which means he was likely just getting a normal day of rest.  Silatolu was able to participate in a limited fashion with a shoulder injury.  Hangartner, one of several players the team has tried at center since the season-ending injury to Ryan Kalil, did not practice Wednesday due to a knee concern.
