Looking for a good weekly read to help you recap the previous weekend of NFL action? We recommend the “PFF Team of Week [_]” feature over at ProFootballFocus.com. Think of it as a position-by-position All-Pro Team, but chosen fresh each week based only on the players’ most recent performances.
Yes, we are drawing your attention to it specifically this week because a couple of Buccaneers are prominently featured. Still, it’s an entertaining read in any given week, and it has included at least one Tampa Bay player in four of the last five weeks.
The weekly PFF all-star team is not a subjective choice based on a highlight-reel play or a team’s eventual outcome on the scoreboard. Pro Football Focus grades every participating player in the league each week, using a system it describes here. Once everyone is graded, at least by PFF’s standards, it’s pretty simple to see who the top performers were at each position.
The PFF Team of Week 10 highlighted outstanding performances by Bucs LB Lavonte David and DE Daniel Te’o-Nesheim. The first choice might come as little surprise, given that David’s 30 tackles over the past two weeks have helped him gain some national prominence. Te’o-Nesheim, however, is the player who took over for injured right end Adrian Clayborn, and it’s fair to say he has a relatively low national profile. That may change if he continues to perform as he did against the Chargers. PFF says Te’o-Nesheim feasted on backup left tackle Mike Harris.
As for David, the site refers to him as “Lavonte ‘Tackling Machine’ David,” which should give you an idea of its appreciation for the Buccaneer rookie.
So check out the PFF Team of Week 10 and make that a standard check-in to see which Buccaneers are at the top of their games each week.
