On Thursday, Buccaneer fans will have the chance to cheer on their team in prime time while simultaneously supporting the education of some deserving Bay area youth. The Bucs will have the national spotlight on Thursday night, and some of that attention will benefit Robles Elementary School in Tampa through the “NFL Play 60 DonorsChoose.org Showdown.
The Showdown program, launched just this season by the NFL in partnership with DonorsChoose.org, features a pair of deserving youth health and fitness projects from the cities of the teams competing each week in the Thursday Night Football game. The winning project will be funded 100 percent by the NFL Play 60 program, while the runner-up will receive 50% funding.
This week, Robles is up against the Achieve Language Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota. Each school is trying to earn the most fan votes in order to receive funding for their respective projects.
The students of Robles Elementary School are in need of classroom parachutes to learn the cooperative, non-competitive skills that students utilize in educational, team-building exercises. By voting for the school, Buccaneers fans can support these local students and enhance their development in the classroom.
Buccaneers fans may vote for Robles Elementary School by visiting www.nflrush.com/choose. Fans may vote one time each hour until Thursday at 11:59 p.m. (EST).
